In Navi Mumbai, Kharghar is a suburb in the Panvel Municipal Corporation. Raigad district is located just to the north of Kharghar. The area was developed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). Kharghar is now administered by the newly formed Panvel Municipal Corporation.

The area falls within the Raigad district of Maharashtra and is one of the 14 nodes being developed by CIDCO. Sectors have been created in Kharghar and there are 45 in total.
